This broccoli salad is crisp and refreshing, easy to make and always perfect for entertaining. This is one of my favorite salads to bring along to a friend’s house.
This simple broccoli salad has 5 basic ingredients and a tasty dressing.
The dressing is versatile and can be used with other salad mixes.
At times this dressing mix comes out a bit too thick so I add an extra splash of the vinegar. I use it as is or make a slightly thinner version with more vinegar for other salads.
Depending on how big the broccoli bunches are, I sometimes add more dressing. I start with one batch of dressing and let it soak in to the broccoli to soften it up.
If more dressing is needed, I mix another half batch and add it on to the salad before we enjoy it.
I cook the bacon ahead of time so that it is cooled enough to chop for the salad. If you prefer the bacon to remain crisp, it can be added at the end.

Variations & Additions
Many favorite toppings can easily be added to this salad.
Dried cranberries can be used instead of the raisins or half a cup of each.
Pecans or almond slivers can be substituted for the walnuts or added for more crunchy, nutty flavor.
Sun-dried tomatoes or diced cherry tomatoes both add nice flavor and color to this salad.
Mix dressing and toss with salad ingredients.
Store salad in refrigerator for several hours before serving so the broccoli can soften.
